We're thrilled to announce Dr. Shannon Odell as Homeroom's newest Advisor. Shannon completed her PhD in neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine where she studied memory, epigenetics, and how the brain adapts to meet environmental challenges.
It is important to us that Homeroom is science-backed from the beginning, and Shannon will help us follow through on this intention. In the coming months, she'll leverage her expertise to make sure our product design is accounting for critical learning and behavior change outcomes. And down the line, she will help us consider taking on our own clinical research initiatives.
Shannon is a diverse talent who also brings a background in entertainment. She can also be seen on The Science Channel as a science correspondent for the show, What on Earth!. Passionate about sharing science in surprising and relatable ways, she wrote and hosted the viral digital series Your Brain on Blank. The show explains how everything, from alcohol to heartbreak, affects the brain.
Her merging of science and comedy has even extended to the world of podcasting and live comedy. She co-produces and co-hosts Drunk Science, a live comedy show meets science lecture series. It was deemed “a stroke of genius” by Gothamist and appeared as a finalist in TruTV’s comedy break out initiative.
As we build out our social channels this spring, we're excited about the possibility of collaborating with Shannon on video content. If you need a worthwhile rabbit hole to go down, check out some of her past projects.
Welcome to the squad, Shannon!
